Different infancy perceptions
My topic will be on the different infancy perceptions that some authors speak about. The traditional studies about infancy have had a significant importance until recently, because, they are based on the idea that childhood is a stage of biopsychosocial development, where children do not have an active role in the society, rather they are in a previous stage in which are preparing them to be adults. Emile Durkheim, considers children as a nature’s state, far from what we'd consider as ‘’civilized’’. Also, is Talcott Parsons, who gives a lot of importance to the family and its role in child socialization. Early nineties, a new vision began to generate a critic analysis on how childhood had been understood in traditional studies. This give origin to a contemporary sociological theory which consider that “Childhood as a social fact, and represents a first attempt in the consideration of the family like an object of autonomous sociological interest’’ (Pávez, 2012 ).
